This interior intervention, was more than just a project. As the center and base of the Mundist character, our work was perfectly captured within our design process on this beautiful home designed by Coalesce Design Studio. The interior of this space was renovated and reinvigorated by an intervention in terms of layout, furniture, and design. We partitioned the double-height space into a loft style living space, with a cozy lounge below, and a breezy, well-lit floor above.

The entrance is a lovely, breezy corridor with a multitude of plants, a bright red rug, hanging lights and wooden doors. It opens up into the lounge, which encapsulates the trademark strokes of Mundist vibrancy, full of bustling life reminiscent of its inhabitants. On a white, neutral canvas we intervened with neutral coloured sofas, revitalized with cushions in bright hues. Incorporating a green polished coffee table, and a warm vermillion rug, we brought out the cozy vibes. To complete the vivid lucidity of the space, we set it off abstract artwork, a contemporary lamp and plants that infused some freshness into the space. The space speaks volumes to our signature work. Leading up from this space are wooden staircases, with a metal geometric lighting element that allows for a tasteful spin on contemporary design. The master bedroom remains swarthed in dark, earthy tones, with dark tiles, and a dark brown polished four poster bed, illuminated by large windows. To draw out the elements of sophistication, we added two golden hanging lights on either side of the bed, with warmer nuances revived by rugs that incorporate muted, yet eye-capturing tones. A lovely green chest of drawers, plants, and a few artwork statements finish the intertwined look of comforting sophistication. We also intervened in the design process of a chid’s room, where we utilized bright sunlight streaming in from large windows to illuminate the space. With colour block curtains on one side, and bright yellow drapes on the other, the room incorporates an equilibrium of colours, that is kept stable through the use of wooden schemes in the bed, shelves and desk table. The room is reminiscent of an all-encompassing space, ideal for a child to grow up in. To tie the look together, and to infuse some playfulness into the space, we added a beautiful, vibrant rug from Abbas Carpets, set against a painted wall. Plants, abstract artwork and bright bedding finishes the perfect look for a young girl’s space. As we partitioned the double-spaced height, we were rewarded with a beautiful, airy space on a higher level where we were able to bring out our loyalty to a creative design process. Within this space, we brought in elements of the abstract, rustic, vintage, homeliness as well as comfort. For the entertaining area we made use of cozy patterns on the sofa, contrasted by more subdued tones of purple for sofa seats. To capture the essence of the relaxing environment, we added a beautiful rug in a deep purple tone, a low height coffee table, and strategically placed decoration pieces. Set against the backdrop of heavy cream drapes, and large windows, we added a lovely aesthetic lamp to allow for soft, comfortable lighting after hours. Within the same area, we incorporated a dining area that also serves as the perfect space for client meetings, and family bonding time. With a large wooden dining table, set in front of the entrance to the roof terrace, and a beautiful bright turquoise rug to complement, the area is ideal for lunches or dinnertime conversations. A black metal abstract light infuses elements of contemporary aesthetic into the space, with the background of a vintage trolley. Inherited from Samia’s own grandmother, this key piece is around 70 years old and is reminiscent of the nostalgic wisps that Mundist incorporates into its design process. The last intervention took place in the form of a home office, where the Mundist magic happens. A beautiful mahogany desk, also inherited from Samia’s grandmother, sits in front of large windows, with worn-out leather reminiscent of the past. With a contemporary chair to accompany, artwork by Sana Dar, and some fresh flowers, space makes for an ideal productivity ground. Set in the backdrop is a hollow space that serves as a break between the inside and outside, where Jeffrey the sculpture, hangs from the ceiling. A figure molded of MS wire, designed by Samia herself adds a touch of familial comic and makes for a great work partner. Space is a testament to all the elements that Mundist incorporates, and everything it promises for its clients.
