Executive Office for WHGS School

This office space was designed for the Director of White House Grammar School (WHG), the client envisioned of a space that breaks away from the traditional aristocratic quality and creates an engaging atmosphere for the students. The client space ideology was turned into a tangible reality through blending a conventional workspace environment with multiple informal elements. The intersection of the foliage with the formal workspace was the primary element, nature was incorporated very consciously to soften the aura of the space. The idea of an olive-green wall was also inspired by nature. The wall acts as a statement feature of the space, which contributes in lightening-up the formal quality of the office. The layering of the spaces has performed a vital role in maintaining the visual fluidity of the space; the waiting area followed by the desk space then layered by the green courtyard through the window. The placement of screens is a strategic decision to maintaining visual connectivity whilst allocating zone for each function, creating a physical barrier between the desk space and the entrance foyer. Smaller details have their own unique role in completing the eclectic mood of the space; the soft curved profile of the desk with stumpy cylindrical legs and the customized visiting chair hints toward the Modern mid-century style.
