H-Residence envisioned transforming their dated lounge, bedroom, and laundry room into a lively, eclectic space. We grounded the project in our core design principles, embracing natural materials, playful forms, and a subdued color palette with vibrant accents.
The lounge exudes a calming aesthetic with its minimalist approach, incorporating natural tones and textures. The back wall features a unique wooden mural in earthy hues, adding depth and warmth. This structured wall is balanced by the soft, flowing lines of a wood-and-travertine coffee table and a travertine-topped side table. A cane swing, or jhola, links the lounge and study areas, enhancing the soft and cohesive feel of the space.
Across from the muted lounge tones, the study area is enlivened by bright ochre accents, lending a spirited, playful vibe. The study table’s soft, curved profile, sturdy cylindrical legs, ochre-polished cabinet, and custom wooden handle maintain an energetic yet refined atmosphere, further enhanced by a delicate blue ceiling light.
In the laundry room, functionality takes center stage, with a restrained design approach. Teal-green cabinets feature minimal arched details, while natural elements like a white marble countertop and terrazzo knobs lend subtle character and warmth.
The bedroom’s design revolves around the client’s existing bed, which serves as the focal point. The sharp-edged, grooved side table complements the bed, while the softer forms of the bench, side table, and coffee table create a balanced aesthetic. The tables incorporate wood and travertine, with tabletops that are clean and sculptural, paired with playful leg designs. The earthy tones of the rust bench, olive-green sofa, and black-and-white accent chair harmonize with the artwork on the walls, and a vibrant orange accent wall with circular art enhances the space’s dynamic feel.
This transformation of H-Residence captures a harmonious balance between structure and play, delivering an expressive and functional design that brings the client’s vision to life.
