For this project, we worked on an old-school space with key architectural elements that infused the area with dramatic flair. Taking in the sweeping staircase and romantic arched windows, we worked with the client’s vision to transform it into a warm and bright lounge that channeled contemporary elegance and subtle tones of homeliness. We used our signature sweeps of color, opting for more muted tones, against a wooden floor to allow the soft vibrancy to bask in dark neutrality, making for a very cozy and yet spacious area. As we explored curvilinear forms, patterns and color blocking, an understated rug and aesthetic coffee table set off the muted tones of dark cyan sofas, which we adorned with quirky, contemporary, patterned cushions. We further amped up the space with our client’s unique art collection, which we reframed and strategically put up on the walls, shadowed by a few plants to bring out some elements of fresh comfort. To tie it all together, we used an aesthetic lighting element that channeled gold accents, infusing the space with a subtle boldness in equilibrium with elegant comfort.
