Moiz Residence

Old school nostalgia crosses paths with modern details in this traditional Bohri home. Architectural elements from another era adorn the residence and lend a wistful air of sentimentality to a space that you just know is bubbling with fond memories. We intentionally maintained the geometry and structural lines of the facade and architecture to preserve and celebrate the beautiful mid-century feel. Keeping the columns and structure as is, we just scraped the materials off, added some brick and gave the space a warmth that was missing before.

The main focal point of this project was the guzergaah or corridor which was enveloped by the communal spaces of the home and is now bursting with personality. Adorned with art, a quaint old-school chest, and green carpet.

The formal lounge and breakfast nook are nuzzled cosily within the passageway. The latter was cleaned up by maintaining the windows as they were and creating a bench overlooking the rear courtyard of the house. With the client’s lifestyle in mind we created floor seating, intentionally mixing solid colours with printed textiles, in the lounge and incorporated a Gujrati thaal into the design elements to showcase and celebrate the traditional vibe.

This project incorporates the Mundist ethos and glorifies old world charm, while accentuating it with modern elements that come together beautifully to make this house a home.
