Project 104 features a dramatic casual lounge complemented by a smaller, more formal lounge. An earthy palette paired with playful forms establishes a strong visual continuity between the two spaces. Yet, meticulous attention to detail allows each lounge to retain its own distinct character—the casual lounge fosters a warm, inviting atmosphere, while the formal lounge subtly exudes poise and refined formality.
The causal lounge consciously curated a palette of muted, natural hues is juxtaposed with vibrant accents, creating a gentle sense of warmth. The use of natural materials and organic forms reinforces the room’s earthy, grounded aesthetic. The horizontal expanse of the lounge is programmatically articulated into three zones: first, a dual sitting area that encourages intimate and collective interactions; second, an intentionally preserved void that celebrates the dramatic interplay of light and shadow cast by the expansive window; and lastly, a bench extending from the stair landing, subtly defining the periphery and creating a dedicated platform for sculptural display.
The sitting area features muted upholstery complemented by sculptural chairs and side tables that introduce a distinctive character to the space. Soft, understated tones within the seating composition are elevated through a vibrant carpet and curated artworks that enliven the ambience. The gallery-style art wall behind the seating celebrates the horizontal flow of the lounge, while the opposing TV wall—with its linear form and vertical grooving—emphasizes the room’s vertical dimension. These two amplified axes work in harmony to create a dynamic visual balance. Amid this interplay, a refined blend of color, form, and texture keeps the space rooted in an earthy, grounded aura. An orchestrated harmony of varied natural wood textures, a travertine base, and subtle moss-green painted wood accents on the TV wall further reinforces the room’s warm, earthy presence.
The architectural configuration of the formal lounge accommodates a compact, tucked-in study nook. Here, the study nook and formal seating area enter into a dialogue, where refined formal elements are interwoven with playful accent forms. Muted hues in the seating zone are complemented by an old-school dark wooden coffee table and the understated presence of a soft teal carpet. The side tables and a gallery wall behind the sofa introduce a subtle sense of playfulness. The study nook, meanwhile, employs a green sofa, embroidered accent cushions, and a large planter to infuse softness and an earthy essence into the space. Minimal grooving incorporated into the bookshelf and bar cabinet maintains the overall formal integrity of the lounge, balancing warmth with sophistication.
Overall, Project 104 weaves together material warmth, spatial clarity, and nuanced detailing to create a residence that feels both grounded and expressive. The dialogue between the casual and formal lounges; each distinct yet visually connected, reflects a thoughtful balance of comfort and sophistication. Through the interplay of material, texture, and form, the project transcends mere functionality to become an immersive spatial experience, celebrating everyday living with a refined architectural sensibility.
