Prolific Court House

The Prolific Court House stands as an object of timeless beauty, accentuating the nature surrounding it and morphing the interior to create a melodious dialogue with nature.
The project is completed in collaboration with Coalasece Design Studio, the architectural framework crafted by the architect Bilal Kapadia uses large floor-to-ceiling windows as a medium to bring nature into the interior spaces.
However, the intervention by Mundist has followed the parameters set by the architect to weave natural and earthen elements into interior spaces. The color and material palette of the project are inspired by nature, the extensive use of polished wood composed along with stone surfaces, and metallic finishes. However, the presence of playful and experimental forms used throughout has maintained the eclectic quality of the space.
The muted aura of the lounge space, with hints of natural tone and textures, creates a family space to rejuvenate. The olive green sofa and the ceiling-to-wall wooden grooved panels create a seamless threshold from the exterior foliage to the interior space. The neutral hues used in the sitting space provide a very grounded visual juxtaposed against the coffee table. In the midst of the soothing feature, the coffee table enjoys an identity of being fun and experimental with its polished wooden paneled table with the pebbled marble top side table.
The dining area borrows a similar pebbled profile and experiments with this natural form. The pebbled mirror composition on the opposite wall of the floor-to-ceiling windows is used to mirror the foliage of the exterior court into interior space.
The barefoot aesthetic of the guest bedroom and the attached en-suite give it a distinct identity. The repetitive uses of rattan set a coherent language for the bedroom and ensuite, which is set along with a pebbled-shaped marble table and a dusty-hued couch that knits it together into a nature-driven space. The powder bath enjoys the identity of being the most experimental space of the residence. The longitudinal profile of the space is celebrated by a wall-ceiling wall mural. The mural executed by Hussain Ahmed Khan uses hues of blue that bring color and fun into the space, yet it doesn’t detach itself from nature.  The mural begins at the top of the sink with Daphne’s hand, which extends towards the river, depicted through an abstract composition of the hues of blue.Despite the collective palette of the house being natural and earthen, we succeeded in providing each space its individuality through play of form, texture and materiality.
