WHGS School

The administrative block for White House Grammar School is divided into two offices. The entire section was intentionally kept fresh and contemporary with a lot of natural light flowing through the open spaces. We played around with a white canvas using natural oak and hints of blue, teal and yellow to keep the colour palette neutral against the stark grey tiled floor. Both spaces required open areas with dividers created in such a way so as to utilise functionality and maximise efficiency of space.

Office 1, the smaller of the two, is where the principal sits and interviews are conducted. The space, including the waiting area, was kept very child-friendly with splashes of colour and interactive spaces interspersed with admin functions. Shelves and cubbies for books, toys and educational elements stand out in ochre and blue while the walls are decorated with colourful hand-made decorations. A white and black board rest side by side for children to scribble on while they wait. Office 2 was slightly larger and housed mostly the administrative department. Within the area zones were divided in a very mindful way using architectural elements while foliage in and around the office brought in a close-to-nature feel.
