Z Lounge Project

Z-lounge, an ode to contemporary living, reflects elegance with its pristine white walls surrounding a feature element; white brick wall. The interior intervention with the use of bright warm tones was consciously chosen to complement the corresponding architectural details of the house.

In the foyer space, the brick wall brushed over by a delicate sunray was appreciated by incorporating natural hues and textures into the composition. The planter and the polished green console placed against the wall contribute to the soothing aura of the entrance space. However the conscious selection of artwork: the flower painting and the metallic leaf further ties all the elements together with the brick wall. The wooden bench and the rug placed against the entrance door orchestrate the foyer space with the living room through the use of orange and olive green.

The warmth and homely atmosphere of the living room were established through the complimenting hues of the orange sofa and olive-green dining chairs. The printed upholstery of the bench positioned between these two solid colors creates a dynamic visual composition. An organic form of the coffee table top and the side top was repeated in the dining area with two black framed mirrors, however, the use of travertine in the coffee table was borrowed from the abundant use of natural texture in the foyer space. The centrally placed dining table is balanced by two activated walls on either side. The wall composed of a grid of white frames set against an organic black framed mirror and a wooden console with minimal groove details.

The intentional selection of minimal details of the console and table creates a stable background that allows color blocking to appear in the foreground. The play of earthen hues including green, orange, and yellow became the main explorative element for this project.
