Zaki Residence

For this project, we took on the interior designing and décor of a full house, built on 1000 square yards and designed beautifully by Shahab Ghani Associates. We were provided with a completely blank canvas where we intervened in terms of layouts and functionality and brought out the personality of each and every space. We worked on four bedrooms, two lounges, a dining and a drawing area, and what remained unique to this project was the way each of the rooms had their own character but flowed harmoniously with the theme of the house.

As we weaved in and out of the rooms, color interspersed with formality and neutrality in the lounges as we used vibrant shades, wooden schemes and gold accents against a neutral background to enunciate comfort and elegance simultaneously. Key décor items such as a turquoise carpet, artwork and excitingly vibrant cushions enmeshed into natural sunlight to bring the grey upholstery together and create an aura of warmth formality, perfect for entertaining and unwinding with loved ones.

One of our crucial elements to bringing this home to life is the play on different materials while maintaining simple, contained elegance. This was our mantra for the lounges as we employed metallic accents, plants, carpets and calming tones of cerulean and dark lime to keep the space unpretentiously modern.

The dining room took a whole new spin on design and décor and is a testament to the uniqueness of each room in the house. With blush pink walls, a wooden scheme and metallic lighting to complement, the room is reminiscent of 19th century British elegance intermixed with 21st century modernity. With natural lighting aiding our design process, we were able to create a space that provided closeness and sophistication concurrently.

Lastly, the bedrooms were each designed in a way that resonated with the identities of each of their occupants. While some rooms utilized more muted tones of calming cerulean and ocean blue coupled with warm sunlight, other rooms opted for vibrancy with colors such as royal blue to inject energy into the space.

In this project, we took care of practicality as well as modern homeliness, in the ways that the spaces maintained their independent personalities, and yet were co-dependent in ways that would encapsulate the liveliness of the home. With colors, materials and our clients’ identities playing an important role, this project was an amalgamation of modern and eclectic, with a well thought out scheme that delivered just the right amount of warm elegance. All furniture was customized by Mundist.
